Recent Staircase Repair & Polishing Jobs

Real photos from our recent staircase jobs, step by step: before, during and after.

Technician sanding old varnish off a timber staircase landing, half done
Half sanded: old varnish vs bare timber

Staircase sanding and varnish

A worn strip-timber staircase and its landings, with scratched and greyed treads. Sanded back to bare timber, then sealed and varnished to a gloss.

Dark-stained treads with white risers

The whole flight was sanded to bare timber, the treads stained dark by hand and varnished, and the risers kept white for contrast.

Broken and gapped dark timber stairs: before repair

Open gaps, a splintered board and worn varnish on dark timber stairs. Boards like these are re-fixed or replaced before any sanding.

Our repair method: lift, re-glue, sand flush

These photos are from a floor repair, but the method is the same on treads and landings: lift the loose pieces, clean off the old adhesive, relay on fresh adhesive and sand flush before varnishing.

Photos are from recent jobs in Singapore, shown as taken. Some carry the camera's date stamp. Photos marked "floor repair" show the same repair method we use on treads and landings.
