Dog-Chewed Staircase Repair in Singapore

Puppies love the edge of a wooden step: it's at mouth height, it smells of the family, and it's easy to grip. The result is a row of chewed nosings, splinters and bare wood. Older dogs leave claw scratches on the treads and the odd urine stain on the landing. We repair dog-chewed stairs across Singapore by filling shallow chew marks, splicing new timber into deep ones, and refinishing so the steps look whole again. Repairs start from $350.

Pet damage we repair

  • Chewed nosings and step edges cut back and spliced with new timber
  • Shallow chew marks filled, shaped and sanded
  • Claw scratches on treads sanded out
  • Pet urine stains treated, or the stained pieces replaced
  • Colour-matched stain and hard-wearing PU varnish
  • Optional satin or anti-slip finish that hides future scratches better

Signs you need this

  • Tooth marks and splinters along the front edge of steps
  • Bare, light-coloured wood showing through the varnish
  • Rounded or missing corners on the bottom steps
  • Fine criss-cross scratches across the treads
  • Dark rings or black patches where a pet has had accidents

How a chewed nosing is repaired

Filling or splicing?

If the chewing has only scuffed the surface or taken off a few millimetres, we fill, shape and sand the nosing back to its profile. Where the dog has bitten deep into the edge, filler won't hold under feet, so we cut the damaged part back to sound timber and glue in a new piece of matching wood. It is then rounded to match the other nosings, stained and varnished.

How a job works

  1. WhatsApp us 3 or 4 photos of your stairs: the whole flight, a close-up of the damage and the most-used step.

  3. Book a date. Jobs usually start 3 to 7 days after you confirm.
  4. We repair first, then polish or sand and varnish, in stages so you can still use the stairs.
  5. Inspect together and pay by PayNow or bank transfer once you're happy.

Before we arrive

  • Clear anything stored on the steps and the landing.
  • Remove stair runners, mats and baby gates.
  • Tell us about loose, clicking or damaged steps you've noticed.
  • Plan where pets and young children will be during the work.

Frequently asked questions

Can chewed wooden stairs be repaired without replacing them?

Yes. Shallow chew marks are filled and sanded. Deeper chewing is cut back and spliced with new timber. Replacing the whole tread is rarely needed.

How much does it cost to repair dog-chewed stairs?

Dog-chew repairs start from $350, depending on how many steps are chewed and how deep. Polishing the whole flight afterwards starts from $350 per flight.

Can you remove dog urine stains from timber stairs?

Light marks can sometimes be sanded out. Where urine has turned the timber black, the stain goes deep into the wood, so we replace the affected pieces.

Will my dog chew the new timber?

It can. Use a gate and bitter-taste spray until the habit stops. We can also apply a harder, extra coat of varnish on the nosings.
