How much does wooden staircase repair cost in Singapore?

Wooden staircase repairs start from $350 and staircase polishing starts from $350 per flight of up to about 16 steps. Full sanding and staining are quoted after we see the stairs. Send photos on WhatsApp for a price, usually the same day.

Do you repair both wood and timber staircases?

Yes. Wooden, wood and timber staircases are the same thing: we repair solid timber treads, strip-clad and parquet stairs, and engineered timber steps.

Which areas of Singapore do you cover?

All of Singapore: HDB maisonettes and executive flats, condo duplexes and penthouses, landed terraces, semi-detached and bungalows, and shophouses.

How long does a staircase repair take?

Most repairs take 2 to 6 hours, plus about 24 hours for the glue before final varnish. Polishing a flight takes about a day; full sanding 1 to 2 days.

Can we use the stairs during the job?

Yes. We work in stages or on alternate steps so there's always a way up and down.

How much does staircase repair cost in Singapore?

Staircase repairs start from $350. That covers broken or loose pieces, dog-chewed nosings, deep scratches and stained pieces on a typical job. Larger damage, such as several treads or a full tread replacement, is quoted after we see it.

How much does staircase polishing cost?

From $350 per flight of up to about 16 steps. Each additional flight is priced the same way. Landings, handrails and balustrades are quoted with the flight.

What counts as one flight?

One continuous run of steps from one floor to the next, up to about 16 steps. A staircase with a half-landing between floors still counts as one flight; the landing is quoted with it.

What makes a staircase repair cost more?

The number of damaged steps, rare timber that's hard to match, solid treads that need full replacement, termite or water damage underneath, and open-riser, spiral or very steep stairs that need more hand work.

Is it cheaper to repair and polish at the same time?

Yes. Doing repairs and polishing in one visit saves a second trip and makes the repaired steps blend in with the rest.

How do I pay?

PayNow or bank transfer after the job is finished and you've inspected it.

How much does staircase polishing cost in Singapore?

Staircase polishing starts from $350 per flight of up to about 16 steps. Additional flights are priced the same way. Repairs start from $350 and full sanding is quoted after we see the stairs.

Can we still use the stairs during polishing?

Yes, with planning. We can varnish alternate steps or do the flight in two stages, so there's always a way up and down. If you can stay elsewhere for the day, the job is faster.

Is a polished staircase slippery?

A fresh gloss finish can feel slippery in socks. For families with young children or elderly parents we recommend satin varnish or an anti-slip additive in the final coat.

How often should timber stairs be polished?

Every 2 to 3 years in a busy household, before the varnish wears through. Polishing on time is much cheaper than a full sanding later.

How much does wood staircase repair cost?

Timber staircase repairs start from $350. The final price depends on how many steps are damaged, whether matching timber has to be found, and whether you want the whole flight polished afterwards (from $350 per flight).

Can you match my existing timber?

We carry common species used on Singapore stairs, such as teak, nyatoh, merbau, chengal, oak and balau. For rare or very old timber we look for a close match and use stain to blend the colour.

Do I need to replace the whole staircase?

Rarely. Most damage is limited to a few treads or nosings, which we repair or replace one by one. Replacing a whole staircase is only worth considering when the structure underneath is rotten or termite-damaged.

Why does my staircase creak?

Usually a tread has come loose from the step below it, or two pieces are rubbing. We re-glue and re-fix the tread so it can't move.

Can you repair engineered timber or laminate stairs?

Engineered timber steps can be repaired and lightly sanded. Laminate nosings and treads can't be sanded, so damaged pieces are replaced. Send a photo and we'll tell you what you have.

Is a broken stair tread dangerous?

It can be. A loose or cracked tread can shift under weight, and a broken nosing can catch a heel. Avoid the step and get it repaired as soon as you can.

Can you replace just one piece of a stair tread?

Yes, on strip or parquet-clad stairs we replace only the broken pieces. On solid treads, small chips are spliced and a split tread is replaced as a whole.

Will the repair be visible?

New timber looks lighter at first. We stain it to match and varnish it. For the most even look, polish the whole flight at the same visit.

How much does it cost to fix a broken stair tread?

Broken tread repairs start from $350. Several broken treads, a full solid-tread replacement or termite damage are quoted after we see them.

Can chewed wooden stairs be repaired without replacing them?

Yes. Shallow chew marks are filled and sanded. Deeper chewing is cut back and spliced with new timber. Replacing the whole tread is rarely needed.

How much does it cost to repair dog-chewed stairs?

Dog-chew repairs start from $350, depending on how many steps are chewed and how deep. Polishing the whole flight afterwards starts from $350 per flight.

Can you remove dog urine stains from timber stairs?

Light marks can sometimes be sanded out. Where urine has turned the timber black, the stain goes deep into the wood, so we replace the affected pieces.

Will my dog chew the new timber?

It can. Use a gate and bitter-taste spray until the habit stops. We can also apply a harder, extra coat of varnish on the nosings.

Can scratches on wooden stairs be removed?

Yes. Scratches in the varnish polish out. Scratches into the timber are sanded out. Deep gouges are filled or have a new piece inserted, then refinished.

Do I need to sand the whole staircase for a few scratches?

Not always. Deep scratches on one or two steps can be repaired on their own. Because a repaired step looks fresher than the rest, many people polish the whole flight at the same visit.

How much does stair scratch repair cost?

Scratch and dent repairs start from $350. Polishing out light scratches across a whole flight starts from $350.

Can you fix a dent in a timber stair?

Shallow dents can often be lifted with moisture and heat, as the crushed fibres swell back. Deeper dents are filled and colour-matched.

Why have my wooden stairs turned grey?

The varnish has worn through on the walking line, so dirt and moisture get into the bare timber. Mopping makes it worse. The steps need sanding back to clean wood and re-varnishing.

Can black stains on timber stairs be removed?

Some water stains lighten with an oxalic-acid treatment after sanding. Deep black stains, usually from pet urine or long-term leaks, go right through the wood, so the pieces are replaced.

Can you make all my steps the same colour again?

Yes. After sanding we test stain on a hidden spot and match it to your treads, landing and floors before doing the whole flight.

How much does it cost to restore discoloured stairs?

Spot repairs start from $350. If only the varnish is dull, polishing starts from $350 per flight. Full sanding and colour restoration is quoted after inspection.

How long does it take to sand and varnish a staircase?

One flight of about 15 steps takes 1 to 2 days, depending on its condition and drying times.

Is staircase sanding dusty?

Our sanders are connected to dust extractors and we vacuum between passes. Some fine dust is normal, and we clean up before we leave.

Can every staircase be sanded?

Solid timber and most parquet or strip-clad stairs can be sanded. Engineered timber only takes a light sand. Laminate and vinyl nosings can't be sanded at all.

How much does it cost to sand and varnish stairs?

Full sanding is quoted after we see the stairs, because it depends on the number of steps, the timber and how worn they are. Polishing, if the varnish is still intact, starts from $350 per flight.

Can you polish parquet stairs to match my parquet floor?

Yes. We polish the stairs and landing with the same varnish and sheen as your floors, and can do the floors in the same visit so everything matches.

How much does parquet staircase polishing cost?

From $350 per flight. Loose or broken strip repairs start from $350.

Why do parquet strips on stairs come loose?

The adhesive ages, and humidity makes the timber swell and shrink. Stairs take concentrated impact at the nosing, so strips there loosen first.

Do you replace missing parquet strips on stairs?

Yes. We fit matching strips from our stock of common species, or salvage pieces from a hidden area if your timber is unusual.

Can I make my staircase darker or lighter?

Darker is easy with stain. Lighter is possible if the timber itself is pale under the old finish; we check with a test patch after sanding.

Can you do white risers with stained treads?

Yes. It's our most popular staircase finish. The risers are sanded and painted, and the treads stained and varnished.

How much does it cost to stain a staircase?

Staining is quoted after we see the stairs, because it needs full sanding first. Repairs before staining start from $350.
